Athletics: Sonia can only manage seventh
Cork's Sonia O'Sullivan finished a disappointing seventh in this afternoon's 3000m final in the World Indoor Championships in Lisbon.
Having just raced the 1500m heat, O'Sullivan did not have the legs to challenge the front runners and could only watch as Russia's Olga Yegorova took the gold.
O'Sullivan's fierce rival, Romania's Gabriela Szabo was beaten into the silver medal position.
The Irish athlete finished in a time of 8:44.37, beating Sinead Delahunty's national record.
