Horse racing: British Jockey Club optimistic over racing re-start
British Jockey Club officials remain optimistic that racing will re-commence as scheduled on Wednesday.
The sport was halted last week for seven days in light of the foot-and-mouth outbreak.
British Horseracing Board officials are believed to be meeting today to confirm details of racing's resumption.
John Maxse, the Jockey Club's public relations officer, said: "We intend to resume at Lingfield on Wednesday and there could be some rearranging for Thursday - possibly an extra fixture because that day's meetings are already off.
"The continuing number of new cases is a worry and this week we can't look beyond racing in the metropolitan areas."
