Football: Treble 'unlikely', admits Giggs
Ryan Giggs has talked down Manchester United's chances of winning the Treble again, claiming it is "unlikely".
The odds are shortening on United lifting the Champions League, Premiership and FA Cup this season to repeat their historic triumph of 1999.
Giggs claims the players do not discuss their chances of winning the Treble and he believes it would require a great deal of luck, like they enjoyed two seasons ago.
"We don't talk about it because we know how hard it is to do it and it's unlikely we'll do it again," he said.
"Even the year we won it, it wasn't until we won the league that we realised we had two games left and that we could win the Treble.
"If you remember in that year we scored so many late goals and had so many bits of good fortune, as well as playing well obviously.
"But it's just so difficult in the FA Cup and in the Champions League when it's the knock-out stages.
"In the league you are able to slip up and in the Champions League, but once you get to the quarter-finals you can't afford to do that.
"Just one sending off or bad performance can knock you out.
"It is difficult and you need that bit of luck because there are so many good teams."
