Premiership: Kanoute 'should ask Karembeu about his little house'

Middlesbrough FC say West Ham's Frederick Kanoute has much to learn about the north if he thinks it is "always raining" and is full of "little houses."

The French striker told reporters that he didn't fancy a move north to clubs such as Everton or Middlesbrough because of the wet weather and small homes.

But a Middlesbrough spokesman said Kanoute should take a closer look at the region before passing judgement.

"I take it from his comments that Kanoute probably hasn't seen too much of the north - maybe he needs to see a bit more of the area," he said.

"And he should have a chat with fellow Frenchman Christian Karembeu and ask him about his 'little' house."

Everton Football Club declined to comment.

Kanoute had said: "I don't really like the North. It's always raining, it's very cold and I don't like all those little houses. It's not for me. I couldn't see myself ever playing for someone like Middlesbrough or Everton. "
