Olympics: Smith 'alarmed' at London bid for Olympics

The prospect of London mounting a bid for the 2012 Olympics appears further away than ever following a warning by Culture, Media and Sport Secretary Chris Smith over the city's transport system.

Smith, who is scrutinising a feasibility study carried out by the British Olympic Association into a bid, said the thought of moving thousands of athletes and spectators around London "fills me with alarm".
