Premiership: United go 15 points clear
With Arsenal, Ipswich and Liverpool all faltering today, Manchester United extended their lead at the top of the Premiership to 15 points. The champions beat Aston Villa for the second time in just over a month with a 2-0 scoreline. Goals from Gary Neville and Teddy Sheringham, his 17th of the season, sealed the win.
Third placed Ipswich took the lead at Chelsea through the league's leading scorer Marcus Stewart. The home side stormed back to take the win 4-1.
Arsenal couldn't break the deadlock in their match against Leicester despite having the numerical advantage for most of the game. It finished 0-0 at Filbert Street.
Irish striker Robbie Keane gave Leeds United a second minute lead against Newcastle but ended up on the wrong side of a 3-1 defeat.
It was all square in the matches between Liverpool and Middlesbrough, Tottenham and Southampton, and Derby and Manchester City.
In the other game in the division, Coventry suffered a 4-1 thumping at home to Everton. Irish international Lee Carsley grabbed the consolation for Gordon Strachan's men.
