Domi leaves Newcastle for PSG
Newcastle have finally parted company with Didier Domi after accepting a £3m bid from his former club Paris St Germain.
The 22-year-old, who was signed in December 1998 for an initial £3m rising to £4m, has returned to PSG after United cut their losses on a player who went absent without leave a month ago.
Domi's move ends an unsavoury saga which began when the Frenchman criticised Bobby Robson's training methods in a website interview at home.
He later issued a statement denying the comments attributed to him, although website bosses stood by their story.
But after being given the weekend off as his team-mates went into battle with Bradford at St James' Park on December 16, he fled to France and refused to return despite repeated phone calls and a visit from chairman Freddy Shepherd.
Robson admitted the episode had been "tinged with disappointment" because of the loss of a player he still regards highly - but is confident he will be handed the proceeds from the deal to strengthen his squad.
A proportion of that cash could be used to tie up the signature of Sheffield United wing-back Wayne Quinn, who will play his second game for the Magpies at Leeds under a month-long loan agreement.
