Ryder Cup darts tournament for Rosslare

A Ryder Cup-style darts tournament involving Ireland has been announced for Rosslare next month.

An All-Ireland team will face a Rest of the World selection, which will comprise of the best 12 players on the planet, including World Champion Phil Taylor, World number one Peter Manley and Rod Harrington.

The event takes place at the Crosbie Cedars Hotel in the Wexford resort on February 23, the eve of the Stena Line Irish Masters.

"It's the first time we've run a representative competition so we'll have to see how it goes. But we hope as many as people as possible will come along and watch," Professional Darts Corporation tournament organiser Tommy Cox said.

The Irish squad is Benny Grace, Martin McCluskey, Shane McGowan, Jack McKenna, Peter Waters, Ger Fox, Geoff Wylie, John McGowan, Paul Watton, Mitchell Crooks, John Elder and Brian Elder.
