Arsenal land Edu
Arsenal have completed the signing of Brazilian midfielder Edu.
The 22-year-old's move to Highbury from Sao Paulo outfit Corinthians has gone through after the player secured a Portuguese passport.
The Gunners have refused to confirm what fee they have paid for the player, although it is believed to be in the region of £5million.
Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger thought he had tied up the deal to secure a man he sees as the natural replacement for Emmanuel Petit during the summer, only for Edu to be refused admission to the country when it was found his passport was false.
It completes a good day for Wenger, who secured the services of Dennis Bergkamp for a further two years after the Dutch striker elected to commit his short-term future with the London giants.
"We are naturally pleased to have eventually signed him," said Wenger.
"He is a very talented player with great potential."
