Jozsef Csermak, who became the first Olympic gold medallist to throw the hammer more than 60 metres, has died following a heart attack. He was 68.

Csermak's throw of 60.34m (197.97 feet) at the 1952 Helsinki Olympics broke the world record of 59.88m (196.46 ft) set by fellow Hungarian Imre Nemeth.
