Petrescu seals Southampton switch
Southampton have completed the signing of Bradford's Dan Petrescu.
The right wing-back has signed on at The Dell for a nominal fee from the Premiership's bottom club in a deal that will keep him at the club until 2003.
Petrescu has taken a huge paycut, but the chance to link up again with former boss Glenn Hoddle, who signed him for Chelsea, may have persuaded the Romanian.
Petrescu passed a medical on Friday morning amid minor concerns over a back injury.
"He had a thorough medical examination and has come through that with flying colours," chairman Rupert Lowe told the club's official website.
"We are delighted that a player of Dan's undoubted international class and calibre has signed for Southampton."
"His record speaks for itself and the fact that he has accepted a large drop in wages shows his desire to play for the club."
Petrescu could be in line for a place in the squad to face Charlton at The Dell, but he may be rested after a hectic couple of days.
