Maradona set for Napoli return?

Napoli owner Giorgio Corbelli says he wants to bring Diego Maradona back to the football club of his glory days, but not as general manager.

Corbelli, who bought majority share in the Naples club last spring, has quashed rumors that the Argentine legend would take over a key management position for the Italian team.

"To put a company under control of a person who has no such experience would seem to me too much," said Corbelli in an interview with Italian state television RAI.

He added: "I see him rather in a role as public face for the team."

Corbelli, whose partner Corrado Ferlaino has talked twice with Maradona in the past month about a possible accord, said he hopes to meet the 40-year-old former playmaker in Rome on Saturday.

"Diego has a lot to offer to the company," said Corbelli. "The memory of the time he was with Napoli is still alive."
