Toshack back for third spell at Sociedad
John Toshack has completed his controversial move from French club St Etienne to Spanish First Division strugglers Real Sociedad.
The Welshman, who has coached Real Sociedad twice before from 1985-89 - when he led them to the 1987 Spanish Cup - and from 91-95, only took over at St Etienne in October and was under contract until the end of the season.
But his close ties with bottom club Sociedad - he is a close friend of club president Luis Uranga and still has a house in the area - lured him back for a three-year deal.
Toshack, who has also coached Swansea, Real Madrid, Sporting Lisbon, Deportivo La Coruna and Besiktas said: "The side is in a difficult situation but there is still enough time to rescue it."
Sociedad have already sacked two coaches this season, firstly former Spanish national coach Javier Clemente in October and then Periko Alonso just before Christmas.
