Thomas and Cian Boyle bring off brilliant double in Crean Cup

Thomas and Cian Boyle completed an impressive father-son double in the Josie Crean Cup at Whitechurch.

Cian set the blueprint for his father when he beat Jimmy O’Driscoll by almost a bowl. He got a big first shot to the farm. O’Driscoll caught the right bank and just beat Boyle’s tip with his second. Boyle edged his lead to almost a bowl to the wall.They both beat Boula lane in three more, with the lead still under a bowl.

O’Driscoll got the better of the next shots to close the gap. Boyle restored the lost metres by reaching the top of the straight with three good throws. O’Driscoll got a good one to bare sight at the farm and went past the Devil’s bend in two more. Despite this Boyle kept his lead and was still almost a bowl clear at the line.
