UCC shine at Skibbereen Head of the River

The annual Skibbereen Head of the River on the Marina in Cork city attracted 288 crews for the time trial.

UCC took full advantage of the fine weather, finishing with eight wins, the most wins of the day. Their senior men’s crew was the fastest moving boat of the day, completing the 3000m course in 10 minutes and 17 seconds, a full 12 seconds ahead of their nearest competitors, Skibbereen.

In the men’s events, Shane O’Connell of UCD Boat Club was the fastest senior sculler while Cork Boat Club’s Barry O’Flynn came in as the fastest junior.
