Mark Keenan hopes Templeogue can continue winning streak

Templeogue coach Mark Keenan hopes his team maintain their winning start to the Men’s Super League with victory over unbeaten UCD Marian on Sunday.

“We have been playing very well as a team but with no disrespect to the sides we have defeated in our opening three games, I think UCD Marian will definitely test our resolve,” said Keenan who guided the Dublin club to their first National Cup title last season.

But Keenan has been forced to make changes following two high-profile departures.

“Sean Flood picked up a scholarship and Conor Grace has went to the Caribbean working and players of that quality are hard to replace.”

Keenan picked up Neil Randolph brother of Irish football goalkeeper Darren and also signed Puff Summers as a back-up American to Mike Bonaparte.

UCD Marian have retained the services of their Greek coach Ioannis Liapakis who has inked deals with American Mike Garrow, Anthony Silvertri and Scott Kinevane. “I couldn’t be happier in how my team has started the season but no trophies are handed out in October and although the Templeogue game will decide who loses their unbeaten record there is still many crucial games ahead, ” said Liapakis.

The Dublin derby game is one of six being played at the National Basketball Arena. Pyrobel Killester and Belfast Star start proceedings with the Dublin side hoping veteran American Jermaine Turner continues with his superb form.

Irish TV Tralee Warriors have had a reasonable start to the season and their clash with Moycullen could well go down the wire. DCU Saints should have too much firepower for basement side Eanna while Griffith Swords Thunder will be eager to get back to winning ways against UL Eagles.

UCC Demons fresh from their impressive win over Swords Thunder should add to their win tally against struggling Kubs.

In the Women’s Super League, Team Ambassador UCC Glanmire are away to Meteors while an improving Maxol Wildcats face Killester. Liffey Celtics will be wary for the visit of NUIG Mystics and DCU Mercy should be too strong for Singleton’s Supervalu Brunell who are still without Kaylee Kilpatrick.
