Both sides had missed open-goal chances before a moment of quality from Richard Lynch broke the deadlock in the 47th minute - the former Munster U18 skipper cutting in from the left sideline and rifling home. A penalty corner that went awry ten minutes later was then recovered and pumped to the backboard by Bernhard Fohrmann to seal a memorable success for skipper David Wolfe and his charges.

C of I’s firsts got a boost in their bid to avoid the drop from the EY Hockey League as they rallied late to draw 2-2 at home to Three Rock Rovers.
