Wladimir Klitschko v Tyson Fury: How the fight unfolded

Fury sprung into action, throwing little jabs and rights to try to bamboozle the champ. The fight settled into a fencing match with neither landing cleanly.

The fencing continued as Klitschko held the centre of the ring but Fury was producing most of the work.

Fury, switching between orthodox and southpaw stances, started showboating and goaded Klitschko, talking to him constantly as the points were racked up.

A trademark right hand by Klitschko, who was cut on the cheek by this point, was his first real success in the fight. However, it was enough to win him the round.

Klitschko, used to fighting shorter opponents he can keep at arm’s length, looked all of his 39 years as his ponderous, orthodox style threatened to lose him the fight.

The action was yet to really hot up but Fury seemed to be having the time of his life, using clever movement and feints to frustrate the struggling champion.

Another round for Fury, who kept Klitschko at arm’s length and kept throwing out the lead hand to occasionally pepper the veteran.

Klitschko’s revered right hand finally came to the party with the Ukrainian landing it properly twice. Fury dealt with it well, however, and landed a big left hook in return.

Things threatened to unravel for the challenger as he was deducted a point by referee Tony Weeks for hitting on the back of the head.

Klitschko finally realised he probably needed a knockout and went gunning for Fury. Both men look tired but the champion summoned a big right hand, which Fury took well. Another big right followed but Fury held on to see the final bell and claim the win.
