Having reached the 81kg light-heavyweight final at the Ali Bin Hamad Al Attiya Arena, Ward had booked his flight to the Rio 2016 Olympic Games.

The 21-year-old was last night out to match the achievement of Michael Conlan, who became the first Irishman to claim gold at the event on Wednesday night.
