PGA Championship: McIlroy: I won’t take a gamble on my recovery
The world number one’s plans for the rest of the season remain unaltered despite the seven-week break due to an ankle injury he was forced to endure between the US Open in June and this week’s PGA Championship, which he got under way last night at Whistling Straits.
Before he got his title defence under way, McIlroy spoke of his playing schedule after the FedEx Cup Play-Off Series, including abiding by a PGA Tour request made three years ago to contest the Frys.com Open in California’s Napa Valley, the first tournament of that tour’s 2015-16 schedule.
