Amy overcomes early trouble to land prize

The Brendan Maunsell-trained Fire Height Amy followed up her record-breaking semi-final run with victory in Saturday night’s final of the Barry’s Tea Open 750 at Curraheen Park.

The bitch, sent off the 5-4 favourite, broke reasonably but was very short of room at the opening turn.

Much to her credit, she recovered quickly from what could have been costly trouble, to move into second place passing the judge for the first time, as Kilcrea Hawk, set a strong pace, some five lengths clear.
