Manny Pacquiao revealed he was almost forced to postpone his Floyd Mayweather super fight because of a painful shoulder injury, which he says affected his performance.

Pacquiao, who sustained the problem throwing a hook in sparring, said: “We were planning on postponing the fight because for two weeks I didn’t train well because of an injury in my right shoulder. I could not use my right hand and we planned to file to the commission an exemption for the (pain-killing) shot for numbing my shoulder.

“We respect the decision of the commission that it is not allowed so we did not get a shot.
