Having finished third of the three teams in last year’s inaugural FEI Eventing Nations Cup at Ballindenisk, the Irish will be bidding for improvement this weekend, writes John Tynan.

Irish seek improvement at Ballindenisk

Three of the team get the nod again for the Cork fixture, Sarah Ennis (Horseware Stellor Rebound), Joseph Murphy (Westwinds Hercules) and Sam Watson (Horseware Lukeswell). They are joined by Aoife Clark (Arco BB), which means Ireland manager Nick Turner has put out the team that placed sixth at last year’s World Equestrian Games to win Ireland a place at the Olympics.

Only Ennis rides her WEG horse, but Turner said “this is an exciting team of horses and riders with a bright future”.
