Jess Scannell makes major impact in Australia

Less than a month after she celebrated a league and cup double at home, Team Montenotte Hotel star Jess Scannell has made an immediate impact playing basketball in Australia.

Coached by dad Mark, Jess was part of the team that beat Cork rivals Singleton’s SuperValu Brunell in the Premier Women’s national league title, completing a clean sweep of domestic honours. It was a particularly notable achievement as Team Montenotte picked from only home-grown players.

Scannell has since made the move Down Under, to play and coach with Melbourne Tigers, whose women’s team play “Big V” basketball, Victoria’s senior basketball league.
