Singleton’s Supervalu Brunell spring huge shock against DCU Mercy

Singleton’s Supervalu Brunell created the shock of the season when defeating DCU Mercy 69-52 in the second leg Premier Women’s league semi-final at the DCU complex.

The Cork side took a three-point lead into this game but the more experienced DCU outfit were expected to progress on their home court. But Kieran O’Leary’s troops were always in control. They led 33-25 at the interval and DCU’s increased second-half tempo struggled to break down a solid Brunell defence.

The jubilant Brunell coach was delighted his side had reached their first national final at Premier level.
