Nick Turner: Rio Olympic ticket sees ‘switch in focus’

Ireland eventing high performance manager Nick Turner says securing qualification for the 2016 Olympics in Rio de Janeiro has meant for a “switch in focus”.

Ireland placed sixth at last year’s World Equestrian Games (WEG) to book a ticket at next year’s Games and Briton Turner said they can now concentrate on achieving success.

“Over the last few weeks, we have been working with the Irish Institute of Sport to evaluate our programme with the goal of Rio 2016 in mind. Securing Olympic qualification at the World Equestrian Games means we can shift the focus to Rio rather than having to chase qualification.”
