Liam O’Meara maintains lead in tour

Show jumper Liam O’Meara maintained his lead in the HSI/Connolly’s Red Mills Spring Tour yesterday, when second at Cavan Equestrian Centre.

The Tipperary rider won the opening leg last weekend in Kildare on Mr Coolcaum, and came close to making it a double with Realt Na Carraig yesterday in a competition boasting 60 starters.

But Catherine Thornton proved fastest in the nine-horse jump-off with Derryinver Luxury Cruise, coming home with a third of a second to spare.
