Alex Byrne enjoys success on the Cork Marina course

ROWING: Three sculling races took place in the 2014-2015 Cork Sculling Ladder at the Marina course on Sunday.

Conditions were tough on a choppy river Lee but all the crews showed excellent control over the 1,800-metre course.

Shandon Boat Club’s Alex Byrne (82) defeated Sam Jackson (80), Lee Rowing Club, easily; (112) Colin O’Sullivan, Shandon BC defeated (103) Cian O’Brien (Lee Rowing Club), easily while new entrant Jerome Arrigan, Shandon Boat Club easily defeated (130) Assad Khan, Lee Rowing Club.

Shane O’Connell, Cork BC still leads the Ladder from joint time trial winner Daniel O’Sullivan, Lee Rowing Club, and last year’s overall winner Colm Hennessy, Shandon BC.

Claire Synnott (35), Lee Rowing Club leads the women’s section from her clubmates Eimear Cummins, and Margaret Cremin.
