Eddie Dunbar was named the Irish Male Cyclist of the Year at the Cycling Ireland Awards night over the weekend.

The 18-year-old Corkman dominated the junior ranks at home this year, while he also produced some phenomenal displays riding on the continent with the national team, his club O’Leary’s Stone Kanturk and the Munster Sensa representative side.

The highlight of his season was his Junior Tour win in July — he became the first man in history to successful defend the title and, incredibly, the second-placed finisher was almost two-and-a-half minutes behind.
