Humphreys sends Ashton through

Hannah Humphreys enhanced her burgeoning reputation with a vital penalty stroke save to send her Ashton side through to the second round of the Irish Junior Cup on Saturday.

The 15-year-old St Angela’s schoolgirl lit up the U16 interpros on Munster duty and was at it again as her side prevailed 4-3 in a shootout after a tense scoreless draw.

There was less good fortune for UCC, who came out on the wrong end of a strokes defeat to Randalstown after a 1-1 draw. Bandon again had Hermes’ number, defeating them for the second year in a row, this time 2-1 in Dublin. The goals came from Rachel Desmond and Jessica Kingston.
