Institute get off to perfect start

Catholic Institute sent Cork C of I crashing to a 3-0 defeat on the opening day in Division 1 of the new-look Munster leagues.

Strikes from Kym Daly, Naomi Carroll and Rosie Pratt did the damage for Brian Downes’s side, as the Irish Hockey Trophy champions struggled to find any rhythm at Rosbrien.

Champions Cork Harlequins overcame a resolute defensive effort from Bandon to win 3-0, as memorable goals from Laurene Buckley and Yvonne O’Byrne were complemented by a Cliodhna Sargent bullet.
