Biansumba secures Euro crown
After edging the opening set, Biansumba failed to win a game in the second set of her all-Irish contest against Tramore’s Caoimhe Duffy-Niblock.
But in a tightly contested decider, No 4 seed Biansumba regained her composure against her unseeded opponent to prevail 7-6 (8/6) 0-6 7-5.
In Thursday’s semi-finals, Duffy-Niblock had pulled off the shock of the tournament, beating No 2 seed, Spain’s Pilar Astigarraga-Harper.
Biansumba also reached the girls’ doubles final, but she and Zara Ryan were edged 6-3 2-6 10/4 by the top-seeded pairing of Lithuania’s Viktorija Banaityte and Italy’s Valentina Urelli-Rinaldi.
