Marie-Perla Biamsumba stormed back from a disastrous second set to claim the girls’ singles title in the Tennis Europe U14 Circuit event in Dublin yesterday.

After edging the opening set, Biansumba looked very much on the ropes when she failed to win a game in the second set of her all-Irish contest against Tramore’s Caoimhe Duffy-Niblock at the National Tennis Centre in Glasnevin.

But in a tightly contested decider, No 4 seed Biansumba, who plays out of the Naas club, regained her composure against her unseeded opponent to eventually prevail 7-6 (8/6) 0-6 7-5.
