Leevale and DSD crowned

Leevale AC’s men and DSD women proved themselves to be the best in the country when they emerged victorious at the GloHealth National League Final at Tullamore Harriers Stadium yesterday.

The top eight clubs from both the premier and division one categories battled it out in Tullamore to be named Ireland’s best outdoor track and field club in 2014.

The Leevale men were brilliant in securing victory in the premier men’s contest. There were fine performances produced by Alex Wright (3,000m walk), Mark Hanrahan (1500m), Sam Healy (long jump), David Quilligan (200m) and David Tierney to secure victory with a score of 116 points. The score placed them seven points ahead of St Abban’s AC, who were second on 109, with Clonliffe Harriers in third on 105.
