Griffin disappointed at narrowly missing world 800m final place
Griffin (UCD) was the last Irish athlete, of nine still competing at the championships. “I’m a bit disappointed,” said Griffin afterwards. “I thought I could make the final out here, but I just came up short. I finished the competition ranked 12th so that’s not bad.”
Meanwhile the GloHealth National Juvenile Championships continued in Tullamore over the weekend and Leevale’s Louise Shanahan had an excellent double in the U18 800m and 1500m. Shanahan won the 800m on Saturday in 2:16.83 and followed up on Sunday with a winning time of 4:41.61 in the 1500m.
