Extra push gets St Brendan’s through
Jack Barry inspired the victors, who struggled to field a team, to come good late on and earn a third round meeting with Dingle in Tralee on Saturday July 12. Forced to field without the John Mitchels contingent, whose club withdrew their players because of an internal dispute with the St Brendan’s Board and two Kerry hurlers who did not show, they still won with just six players who featured in the opening round.
But Currow were simply not good enough, and despite the superb contributions of Shane O’Leary, Dan O’Sullivan, Seamus Scanlon and, in particular, Ian Somers, they lacked the scoring power.
