Breen takes a lead from his horse’s name

Shane Breen was taking a lead from his horse’s name yesterday as he prepared for the first Chinese leg of the Global Champions Tour.

The Hickstead-based Tipperary rider has travelled with the 10-year-old Confident Of Victory and is not short of belief, despite facing some of the sport’s elite at the $2m Shanghai showcase.

He also has the nine-year-old bay stallion Farao Van T Vennehof, but it is the grey gelding that he has pinned his hopes on for tomorrow’s feature grand prix.
