Rising star Allen bags Belgium grand prix

Wexford’s Bertram Allen confirmed his status as a rising star of show jumping when riding Molly Malone V to victory in yesterday’s grand prix at Belgium’s nations cup show.

The 18-year-old provided one of only two triple clears against some of the world’s best riders.

On Saturday, Cork’s Billy Twomey kept the Irish flag flying when winning the grand prix qualifier on the veteran mare Tinka’s Serenade.
