McMahon out of Long Course nationals

SWIMMING: Irish record holder Sycerika McMahon is the notable absentee from the National Long Course Championships which start tomorrow.

McMahon out of Long Course nationals

McMahon has already secured her place at this summer’s European Championships and Commonwealth Games, but will not be present at the National Aquatic centre as the meet coincides with college exams at her Texas A&M base. This week’s championships represent the final opportunity for Irish swimmers to garner the qualifying standard for the Europeans in August.

Seven Irish swimmers have already booked their place on the flight to Berlin and of this group — Barry Murphy, Fiona Doyle, Brendan Hyland, Nicholas Quinn, Dan Sweeney are expected to compete this weekend.
