Four Irish finish in podium positions in Germany
Ochigava, who lost the 2012 Olympic final to Katie Taylor, beat Ireland’s Alanna Audley-Murphy in Germany yesterday.
Ireland’s seven-strong squad met Germany A and B and Russia in a Round Robin tournament in Wittenburg on Friday, Saturday and Sunday.
Michaela Walsh (gold), Joanna Lambe (silver), Clare Grace (silver) and Audley-Murphy (bronze) finished in podium positions.
Meanwhile, Irish bantam Michael Conlan did his bit for Germany in the World Series of Boxing (WSB) in Germany on Saturday night.
Conlan earned a comprehensive unanimous decision (50-45, 50-45,50-45) over Kazakh southpaw Meirholat Toitov of the Astana Arlans. But Germany lost 3-2 on the night and must meet the defending champions over five bouts in Almaty, Kazakhstan on April 5 in the return leg.
