A dramatic last-second three pointer from Carrigaline Community School’s Adam O’Keefe, his first score of the game, secured yesterday’s U16 B Boys All-Ireland Schools League title in Dublin’s National Basketball Arena.

Carrigaline had trailed St Joseph’s of Drogheda for the vast majority of the contest but led when it mattered at the final buzzer, 53-51, courtesy of O’Keefe’s long-range bomb with his side’s final attack of the game.

Earlier in the day, four sensational second-half three-pointers from Scoil Caithríona’s Liam Maoláin lifted the Dublin school to the U19 B Boys Basketball Ireland Schools League title over Rockwell College of Limerick. Maoláin’s long-range accuracy kept Caithríona in touch throughout a second half that was dominated for long periods by Rockwell’s co-captains of Liam Fahy and Tristian Fogarty.
