London Olympian Adam Nolan admitted he ‘fell asleep’ in the second round of Saturday’s welterweight quarter-final at the National Elite Championships at Dublin’s National Stadium.

Nolan, the champion, beat Brian Brosnan of the Olympic BC in Galway on a unanimous decision to book his ticket into the last-four from a see-saw battle of the southpaws.

But Nolan was not happy: “Pete (Taylor) said to me after the second round that it was one round each, I fell asleep a bit in the second,” admitted Bray based Garda, Nolan.
