Carruth named IABA chief

The Irish Amateur Boxing Association (IABA) has confirmed Fergal Carruth is the new chief executive of the organisation

Dublin-born Carruth, a brother of 1992 Olympic champion Michael, was appointed following an extensive interviewing process. A company secretary with the IABA, he replaces Don Stewart, who has retired.

Fergal Carruth is a former Irish intermediate lightweight champion and Irish international, boxing out of the Drimnagh BC in Dublin, said he was looking forward to working with everyone involved with Irish boxing to ensure the future success of the sport in Ireland.
