Speirs delighted with Jiff’s return

Eventing rider Camilla Speirs was “absolutely delighted” yesterday with the powerhouse return of Portersize Just A Jiff in Boekelo the Netherlands, particularly as it came with the “bonus” of Ireland finishing third in the nations cup.

The diminutive 13-year-old gelding was competing for the first time outside of these shores since his crashing fall in last year’s Olympics. While the combination slipped from fourth to seventh after yesterday’s show jumping, Speirs’s joy could not be diminished.

“I’m absolutely delighted with how the week went,” said the Athy rider. “It was a major comeback for Just a Jiff, who picked up a serious injury after the Olympics last year. So, to have him back feeling better than ever was great.””
