With a display of powerful running, Sean Tobin removed two of the longest standing records from the books at the Munster Schools Championships which took place at the Cork IT Athletics Stadium.

Firstly targeting the 800m because “the day is too long waiting around for one event,” the Clonmel High School student removed Liam Reale’s 12-year-old record by just over a half a second when winning in 1:50.23.

He came back later in the afternoon to smash former European Indoor champion Mark Carroll’s 1500m best of 3:52.5, which has stood since 1990, with a brilliant 3:50.54.
