UCI President Pat McQuaid’s future as head of the sport has been thrown into doubt following an extraordinary set of circumstances which unfolded over the weekend.

Hold-up for McQuaid

The Irishman had been nominated by the Board of Cycling Ireland for the role of President for a third term on April 12 but the manner in which that meeting was conducted has resulted in the nomination being declared void.

The issue first came to light on Friday last when recently resigned Cycling Ireland Board member Anto Moran questioned the procedures surrounding McQuaid’s nomination at that meeting (on April 12).
