Setanta return fails to lift Giants

Setanta Ó hAilpín marked his AFL return after almost a year out through injury with a five-goal haul against Melbourne yesterday, but it still wasn’t enough for his GWS side.

Ó hAilpín got off to the perfect start with a goal after just 50 seconds from a 35m free-kick.

He finished the opening quarter with two strong marks to bring his tally to three.

His fourth goal in the third quarter prompted a joyous celebration by the Corkman and when he added a fifth, the Giants looked on target for a vital win, but Melbourne roared back to secure a 144 to 103 win.
