UL Eagles may have been shocked by DCU Saints in the Champions Trophy semi-final on Friday night but their ladies team have a chance to exact some revenge as they qualified for Nivea Women’s SuperLeague final against DCU Mercy.

UL’s trademark this season has been their outstanding level of fitness and that quality once again shone through on Saturday evening when Ulster Rockets failed to keep up to the pace set by the home side.

“We had the fitness work done,” said coach James Weldon after a comfortable 78 to 48 win: “Rockets are a very good side but we felt confident that if we set the pace that eventually we’d come good and win it.”
