Siri likely to be out for up to a year

Shane Sweetnam believes his 11-year-old mare Siri will be out for up to a year after injuring her tendon in the US nations cup in Florida on Friday night.

The Corkman was forced to retire after the first round, with the team going on to finish fourth.

The result belied some good performances, notably a superb double clear from Cian O’Connor on Splendor, while Richie Moloney and Ahorn van de Zuuthoeve also left the fences upright, adding a single time fault each time out. Sligo’s Darragh Kerins and Lisona scored four and five, giving a team total of 11. The plaudits went to the home side on four, followed by Canada on five and Germany on nine.
