Ó Lionaird breaks mile PB

Ciarán O’Lionaird (Leevale AC) smashed his PB for the mile when he finished third in Wannamaker Mile at the Millrose Games in The Armory in New York on Saturday night.

American Olympians filled the first two places with Lopez Lomong winning in a time of 3:51.21, just ahead of Matt Centrowicz in 3:51.34.

O’Lionaird’s time of 3:52.10 bettered the 3:54.76 he ran 12 months ago. It also ranks him fourth in the Irish All-Time list for the mile after Eamon Coghlan, Marcus O’Sullivan and Ray Flynn.
